INJECTABLES/CROW'S FEET

image of crow's feet on a modelCrow's feet are the small, often fine lines that radiate from the outer corners of the eyes. They are primarily caused by:

Facial expressions: The muscles around the eyes contract with facial expressions, causing temporary creases in the skin. Over time, these creases can deepen and become permanent, forming wrinkles.
Aging: As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen and elastin, which are responsible for maintaining its firmness and elasticity. This makes the skin around the eyes more prone to wrinkling.
Sun damage: Prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays accelerates the aging process by breaking down collagen in the skin, contributing to the formation of wrinkles.
Genetics: Some people are more predisposed to developing crow's feet based on their genetics and skin type.

How BOTOX® Works for Crow's Feet
Mechanism of Action: BOTOX® (botulinum toxin) works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that tell muscles to contract. When BOTOX® is injected into the small muscles around the eyes (the orbicularis oculi muscles), it prevents them from contracting as forcefully. This relaxation of the muscles reduces the formation of wrinkles in the skin above them, leading to a smoother appearance in the areas where crow's feet appear.

The Procedure: BOTOX® is injected into the muscles around the eyes where crow's feet form. Typically, the treatment involves 3-4 small injections on each side of the face, targeting the muscles responsible for squinting and smiling. The procedure is quick, taking around 10-15 minutes, and there’s usually minimal discomfort. Many patients report feeling only a slight pinch from the injections.

Results
Onset: You’ll typically start to see improvements within 3-5 days after the Botox treatment, with full effects visible within 7-10 days.
Duration: BOTOX® results for crow's feet typically last around 3-4 months. Over time, as the muscle activity gradually returns, the wrinkles may begin to reappear, and a repeat treatment will be necessary to maintain smoothness. The treatment softens and smooths out the lines, resulting in a more youthful, relaxed appearance around the eyes without completely freezing the natural expression.

Questions we're often asked

Crow's feet are the fine lines and wrinkles that form at the outer corners of the eyes. They are often caused by repetitive facial expressions, such as smiling or squinting, combined with the natural aging process. These lines can make the skin around the eyes appear aged and less smooth.
At Kitral Aesthetics, we offer treatments like anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, leading to smoother skin. Dermal fillers add volume and hydration to the skin, reducing the appearance of lines. Microneedling stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture and elasticity.
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Some clients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure. Serious side effects are rare but will be discussed during your consultation to ensure you are fully informed.
Results vary depending on the treatment chosen. Anti-wrinkle injections typically show results within a few days, with full effects visible after about two weeks, lasting 3-4 months. Dermal fillers provide immediate results that can last 6-12 months. Microneedling results improve gradually over multiple sessions, enhancing skin texture and reducing wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle injections usually last 3-4 months, requiring maintenance treatments to uphold the results. Dermal fillers can last between 6-12 months, depending on the product used and individual factors. Microneedling results can last several months, with ongoing benefits from collagen production.
